maridontreks comprises travel and ethnographical photographers Marina Foo & Donald Tan of Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo.
Marina Foo read law at North London Polytechnic (1988 to 1991) and was admitted to the bar at Lincoln’s Inn in 1991. She was later admitted to the Supreme Court of Singapore and the High Court of Sabah & Sarawak in 1992 and 1993 respectively. Currently the principal advocate in her own legal firm, she also plays an instrumental role in several other associated hospitality businesses.
Donald Tan holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Sciences (Sports Sciences) from Edith Cowan University, Western Australia (1989 to 1992). After nearly a decade of employment as Head of the Sports Science Department with the Sarawak State Sports Council and the Operations Manager of the Sarawak Golf Club, Donald is now an entrepreneur, founding and managing several hospitality and design businesses.
Their foray into photography stems from their passion for travels and discovery. This husband and wife team has visited over 30 countries between them and fits in at least 3 trips each year with a preference for locations off the beaten track. Being excellent at personal interactions, Marina focuses very much on portraitures and also possesses a great eye for capturing unusual still life details whilst landscape and general street photography is the emphasis for Donald. These specialized interests do not however create boundaries but instead make for an interesting collaboration when pieced together.
Currently building up an image bank of moving images, maridontreks hopes to eventually showcase these images at exhibitions, travel slide shows and travel publications to promote a deeper appreciation and understanding of our global cultural diversities.
